A classic, first published in 2003, and still worth reading. Even though 8 years seems like a long time in technology, for the basic processes it is still up to date. At the same time this is a difficult book to review.
On the one hand it is an excellent overview of the process requirement definition in organizations following a RUP-made-to-measure process*. The book covers the full requirement definition and documentation process, and describes it well. And I know more than one company that follows this method almost to the letter. So there is no way around it if you want to check whether you are up to speed, or need to prepare for a new assignment and want to make sure that you work according to a consistent process.

El equipo de desarrollo de Web2Project puede ganar mucho con mas visibilidad en línea. No lo hubiera encontrado si no fuera porque mi instalación de DotProject dejo de funcionar después de instalar la nueva versión 2.1.5, y porque no fui capaz de hacer una instalación virgen de DotProject en un servidor nuevo.
Frustrado por ambos hechos, y porque ya me canse de lidiar con errores menores y mayores que han estado en DotProject desde hace anos, empecé a googlear las palabras “alternativa para DotProject”. Y digo esto con todo el respeto para el excelente trabajo del equipo de DotProject – que lo merecen porque son los que han abierto la puerta a software open source para la gestión de proyectos.

As I was setting up a work environment for a project with a mac-user who has no particular love or disposition for computers or software, I was faced with a problem. We needed the following:
The problem is of course that Apple never bothered to incorporate FTP and sFTP in the finder. So there is no way to connect directly to a sFTP folder there.

An American friend of mine received this residence permit under the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty last November. And since then he has been kinda at a a loss as to how to interpret the rules and regulations that apply. And a combination of language barriers and lack of experience from his advisors turned it into a jungle of conflicting information.
So I gave him the answers below to his questions, which I post here for two reasons. First, it might help you if you are in a similar situation. Second so that you can correct it from any inconsistencies or errors. You will notice that I use the Dutch concepts in quotations marks. Understanding the translations of the Dutch words in the right context is part of the problem in understanding my friend is facing.

En camino a mi equipo de desarrollo en India, empaqué un par de libros sobre la definición de requisitos de usuarios y modelización UML. La entrega de software depende en gran parte de asegurarnos que hacemos esta parte del trabajo bien, y de tal forma que todos los involucrados en el proceso entienden lo que tratas de comunicar. Cada involucrado tiene intereses diferentes, necesidades de información diferentes y al combinar todo hay que hacer una traducción en términos de tiempo y dinero. Si esto no esta bien hecho, es cuestión de esperar a que ocurra un desastre.
Instalar FL Studio 9 en Mac OSX usando Wine

Despues de instalar FL Studio 9 en mi maquina con Ubuntu, me quedaba la inquietud si esto también funcionaría bajo OSX (versión 10.5.8 en mi caso). La respuesta breve es SI! Hasta funciona mejor.
Y fué facil encontrar como hacerlo gracias a este excelente tutorial de David Baumgold. Recomiendo un paso alternativo despues de paso 4, como descrito aqui abajo.
Running FL Studio 9 under OSX using Wine

After installing FL Studio on my Ubuntu machine, I could not help but wonder if it would work as well under OSX (10.5.8 in my case). And the short answer is YES! It works even better.
And it was easy to do so thanks to this excellent tutorial by David Baumgold. I recommend one alternative step after step 4, as outlined below.
Ubuntu Maverick (10.10) – Finalmente FL Studio funciona sin problemas

Mientras que la version previa de Wine, incluida en Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) corria FL Studio y Native Instruments Komplete 6, no ear posible ver la mayoría de los plug-ins (Morphine, Toxic, Slicex, etc. etc.).
Pero esto ahora es historia, despues de cargar la nueva versión de Ubuntu Maverick (10.10) todos los plug-ins en FL Studio funcionan debidamente. Y lo mismo va para los componentes de Komplete 6. Si añades Reaper tienes tu DAW en casa completo.

While the previous version of Wine included in Ubuntu Lucid (10.04) run FL Studio and Native Instruments Komplete 6 fine, it was not possible to get the plug-ins (Morphine, Toxic, Slicex, etc. etc.) running. They simply did not display.
This is now history, after updating to Ubuntu Maverick (10.10) the complete set of plug-ins runs fine under Wine. And so do all the Native Instruments Komplete 6 components. Add Reaper and my home DAW is complete again on my main computer, which allows for the small portable studio (installed in a Shuttle Barebones PC) to be kept back our rehearsal room.
